Maintenance Massage

Do you change the oil in your car when the little sticker says to or do you wait until the “check oil” light comes on? Do you mow the lawn regularly or do you wait until you lose the dog in the weeds? Do you replace the roof on your house as recommended or wait until rain starts dripping on you in the mornings? Do you get a massage on a regular basis or only once your body reaches a crisis level of stress and pain?

Most of us understand that maintenance is an important tool for preserving our property and for getting the longest useful life out of our “things”. As we age it takes a more deliberate commitment to maintain (or regain) peace and ease in and with our bodies. My clients benefit from applying this concept of maintenance to their own bodies.

I work with clients to guide them to their personal “maintenance level”. Some people find that their massage “lasts” for 5 weeks. Others need to “reset” every other week. This is a process more experimental than scientific.

Take a look at the perpetuating factors page. Your current level of stress, your history of injury, and how easily your muscles soften during a massage will play a role in finding your maintenance level.

Your inquiries about massage are always welcome. Please contact BTM with any questions.
